SMS Messaging Terms

Last updated August 10, 2026

ScriptSchedule is a family medication tracker. It helps one person keep track of the medications taken by everyone in their household — including children, aging parents, and pets — by storing each medication's schedule and recording when a dose is taken, skipped, or snoozed.

This page describes the optional text message (SMS) alert program available to ScriptSchedule account holders. It is separate from the app's standard push notifications, and it is turned off unless you deliberately turn it on.

The short version: if you switch it on, we will text you when a medication you marked as critical has not been logged as taken shortly after it was due. We never put the medication's name or dose in a text. Reply STOP at any time and the texts end immediately.

What this program is for

Push notifications are best-effort. A phone in Low Power Mode, on Do Not Disturb, or simply left face-down on a counter can delay or suppress one entirely, and there is no delivery receipt telling us it never arrived. That is an acceptable risk for a daily vitamin. It is not an acceptable risk for heart medication, insulin, anti-seizure medication, or a post-surgical antibiotic.

The SMS alert is a second, independent channel used only as a backstop for medications the account holder has specifically flagged as critical. It fires only when the app has no record that the dose was handled.

How you opt in

Consent is explicit, per-person, and given inside the app — never by us adding a number on someone's behalf, and never automatically as part of signing up.

  1. Sign in to your ScriptSchedule account at scriptschedule.app.
  2. Go to Settings → Text Backup.
  3. Enter your own mobile number and read the consent statement shown on screen, which reads: "By continuing you agree to receive automated text messages from ScriptSchedule about missed medication doses. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel at any time."
  4. Tap to continue. We text a 6-digit verification code to that number.
  5. Enter the code back into the app. This proves you control the handset.

Only after both the consent statement is accepted and the code is confirmed does the number become eligible to receive alerts. We record the date and time of consent along with the exact wording that was displayed. Separately, each medication must be individually marked as critical before it can ever trigger a text.

What the messages look like

Two examples of the only kind of message this program sends:

ScriptSchedule: Mom's 8:00 AM dose hasn't been marked as taken. Open scriptschedule.app to log it. Reply STOP to opt out.
ScriptSchedule: Dad's 9:00 PM dose hasn't been marked as taken. Open scriptschedule.app to log it. Reply STOP to opt out.

Note what is deliberately absent: the medication's name, its dose, its strength, and the condition it treats. A text passes through carrier infrastructure and lands on a lock screen that anyone nearby can read, so the message carries only a first name and a time. The medical details stay inside the account, behind a login.

Message frequency

Message frequency varies and is entirely determined by your own settings and behavior. A message is only sent when all of the following are true:

If you log your doses on time, you will receive no messages at all. Each individual dose can generate at most one text — we never re-send or nag about the same dose. There is also a hard daily ceiling per household as a safety stop.

How to stop the messages

To do thisDo this
Stop all texts immediatelyReply STOP to any message. You may also reply STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, or QUIT. You will get one final confirmation, then nothing further.
Get helpReply HELP to any message, or email us at the address below.
Start again after stoppingReply START, or re-enroll in Settings → Text Backup.
Turn it off without textingOpen Settings → Text Backup in the app and choose to disable it.

An opt-out is honored by the carrier immediately and is also mirrored inside ScriptSchedule, so the app stops attempting to send and will tell you why if you look.

Cost

ScriptSchedule does not charge you for these messages. Message and data rates may apply from your own mobile carrier, depending on your plan.

Carrier liability

Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. This alert is a backstop and should not be relied upon as the sole safeguard for any medication regimen. Always follow the directions given by your prescriber or pharmacist.

Privacy

Your phone number is stored solely to deliver these alerts. It is never sold, never rented, never shared with third parties for marketing, and never used to send you promotional messages of any kind. The only third party that receives it is our messaging provider, Twilio, which transmits the message on our behalf. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
